右は、お母さんの愛犬、ラッキーちゃんです。

短かったけど、日本へ帰ってきました！　時間がなかったので、実家には帰らず、大阪と京都を満喫。日本の紅葉は良いねー。

紅葉を見に、京都の嵐山へ散策。大河内山荘は、とっても良かった。っと、言っても、私たちはケチなので、大河内山荘以外には、どこへも入園しなかったのです。だから、他とは比べられませんが、、、あっはっは。（お寺に入るのにも、入園料１０００円とかって、とられるのよ。信じられませんでした。）

大河内山荘にある竹林は、とっても素敵でした。写真では、ちょっと、その感動ものを見せれないけど。ちなみに、竹林のある散策路は無料です。

あんまり、写真をとらなかったけど、見てね！

今回、初めて大阪風のお好み焼きを食べました。びっくりするほど、柔らかくて、ホットケーキみたいで、とっても美味しかった。いつも、広島風ばかりだったので、感動しました。（広島人は、広島風が一番なーんて言うから、試した事がなかったのです。）私が、食べたのは、池田市駅内にある、小さなお好み焼き屋で、なんと３００円という安さ。ぜひ、試してみて下さい。


It was really short but I went to visit Japan over Thanksgiving holiday. Because I didn't have much time, I just went Osaka and Kyoto and did not go home. My family met me in Kyoto. It was nice.

My family and I went to place called Arashiyama, Kyoto. The foliage was so beautiful and enjoyed Japanese garden in Okouchisansou. Although we wanted to visit all the temples and gardens but we were so cheap that we only went to Okouchisansou. (It costs about $10 to go into temple! It was unreal.)

Entrance to Okouchisansou, there are a little path in the bamboo forest. (BTW this is *free* part of garden.) I could not get good picture of it but the bamboo forest was soooo beautiful. I never thought bamboo forest can be this beautiful.

Anyhow, here are some pictures that I took-- not much but please take a look.

Oh, let me tell you about Osaka style Okonomiyaki. I never had it before because I am from Hiroshima and people in Hiroshima say Hiroshima style is the best. So this trip, I tried Osaka style Okonomiyaki the very first time. It was yummy. It was like really soft pancake and it was so cheap. It was only $3! I was just impressed! Please try it if you have visit Osaka.

このごろ、忙しくて日本のニュースを読んでなかったんだけど、多分、東城(庄原市)は広島６区だと思う！ がんばれ、ホリエモン！ うちのお母さんは、絶対にホリエンモンに投票すると思う。なんたって、株主だもんね。

Wow! The guy, Internet tycoon, Horie is going to run for one of the Hiroshima prefectural seats... where my parents live! That is way tooo cool! I am for sure my mom will vote for him. Since she has his company stock.

ついにこの日が来ました。　今日、北海道へさようならを行ってきました。今、成田にいます。

明日、猫ちゃんたちをJALカーゴでアトランタへ輸送し、明後日、私たちはデルタで帰ります。

今夜の私たち：（１８日）
　猫ちゃんたち：　ペットホテル　ぺぺ
　私：　日航ホテル成田
　カールトン：サンルート札幌
と、ばらばら。

明日（１９日）は、成田エクセルホテル東急に泊まってアトランタへ出発です。（２０日）

We said goodbye to Hokkaido today. Cats and I are in Narita tonight. Tomorrow, cats are shipped to Atlanta via JAL cargo. Then day after tomorrow, we are going back to Atlanta with Delta.

Tonight (18th), cats are staying at Pet hotel Pepe in Narita. I am staying at Nikko Hotel Narita. Carlton is still in Sapporo. He is staying at Sun Route Hotel Sapporo. He will be joining us tomorrow in Narita (19th). We will stay here another night tomorrow at Excel Hotel in Narita then fly with Delta on 20th.

Good bye Japan!!! We are looking forward to see you in Atlanta!

な〜んとタラバガニだ！　それも、特価の1ハイ３９８円！　さすが浜頓別スーパー魚介類は安い！　　美味しかった！

I found this boiled crab for little over $3 per one crab at Hamatonbetsu. That is really cheap. And it was really good.

なんだか、今になって本当に１年間って短い！っと思う様になりました。もう、１週間弱でアトランタへ引っ越しです。私が長い間いなかったのと、もう時間がないので昨夜、皆で焼き肉へ行ってきました。名寄市にある牛若丸です。おいしかったよ！

可笑しかったのは、ポールがウエイトレスに、

”ほ　っ　と　そ　〜　す　ください。”　

と頼んでもウエイトレスは

”？？？”。　
英語でHotは、温度が熱いと言う意味と、辛いと言う２つの意味があります。日本では、温度が熱いの方で通ってますよねぇ〜。だから、ちょっと可笑しかった。

でも、”熱いソース”で、意味通じるかなぁ〜？

Gosh, one year is really short. We are moving back to Atlanta in less than one week. Since I was out of town for a long time, we went to goodbye dinner in Nayoro city. Ushiwakamaru is a Korean BBQ restaurant and it was pretty good.

The funniest thing is that Paul kept asking waitress,

"Hooo tto sooo su kudasai"

in funny Japanese accent. "Kudasai" means "please give me." In Japan, "Hot" just means temperature hot and doesn't mean spicy so the waitress was just so confused.

Well, maybe people can guess what it means by saying, "Please give me warm sauce."

広島から帰ってすぐ聞いたのですが、この辺りでは毎週の様にお祭りが行なわたそう。っで、早速行ってきました。　浜頓別町のクッチャロ湖で行なわれた祭りで、丸太渡りやカヌーや花火などいろいろ朝から夜まで１日中行なわれる祭りへ行ってきました。私たちは、午後の部でよさこい踊りを見ました。枝幸町、中川町、天塩町、豊富町から４組のよさこいグループが踊りました。と〜〜〜っても、良かったです。

写真は、焼き鳥ならぬキュウリの丸漬け串だ！　以外と美味しかった。

Right after I came back I heard there were so many festivals going on around this area. Before I miss anymore, we went to one of them. It was Lake Kutcharo Fest in Hamatonbetsu. The festival was all day thing started with log crossing race in the lake end with fireworks. We went to the festival during afternoon program which was "Yosakoi Soran dancing" by groups around this area, Esashi-cho, Nakagawa-cho, Teshio-cho and Toyotomi-cho. Yosakoi Soran dance is unique energetic modern group dance based on traditional Japanese dance. Each group wear beautiful colorful kimono convert cloth and music is Japanese traditional fishermen song mixed with western dance music. It is really neat.

It was really really awesome!

中頓別と言うか、どの小さい町でもそうなんだろうけど、道を歩いているとわざと車をゆ〜っくりと運転して、だれが歩いているんだろうっと、首を向けるんだよね。知らない人だと、上から下までじ〜〜〜っと見るだよね。外人になると、運転しているのに、後ろまで向いてね。

この間、家に帰っている途中、家の近くで２人の人が歩いてたんです。なんと、うちのカールトン、運転している車のスピードを下げて、だれだろ〜っと見てるんです。知っている生徒だと思ってね。

私：　カールトン、ついに貴方も中頓の住人になったね。

カールトン：　。。。（汗）

Not only Nakatonbetsu but also any other small towns, if you are walking street, people drive very very slow when they pass you. They just rubber neck and see if they know you or not. If they don't know you, they will look at you from the top of your head to the toes. If you are a foreigner, they will actually face back even they are the driver.

Anyhow, the other day, we were going back home, two people were walking on the street. Well, Carlton actually slow down and see if those are his students.

I said, "In the end, you became an Official Resident of Nakaton."
